Automatic buying-in of a share takes place in the afternoon of T+2. The share's previous-day closing price was RM4.20 and its morning-session last done price RM4.26. What is the buying-in bid price?
Rule 5.2A(d)(i) of the Clearing House Rules and Trading Manual para 6.2.4 set the bid at ten ticks above the higher of the previous Market Day's closing price and the last done price of the previous trading session. The higher price is RM4.26. Buying-in uses its own tick table (Clearing Rules Schedule 5-1; Trading Manual para 6.2.10), under which the tick for RM3.00 to RM4.99 is 2 sen: 4.26 + (10 x 0.02) = RM4.46. RM4.40 starts from the lower closing price. RM4.36 uses the normal 1 sen trading tick. RM4.30 makes both mistakes. Using the normal trading tick instead of the wider buying-in tick, or ignoring the morning last done price.
