A client buys shares on-market on a Thursday. With no public holidays, by when must he pay his Participating Organisation?
Bursa Securities settles On-Market Transactions on a T+2 basis. Under Rule 9.09(2) and Schedule 2 of the Rules of Bursa Malaysia Securities, the buying client must pay the PO not later than 2.00 p.m. on T+2. From a Thursday contract date, T+1 is Friday and T+2 is Monday, so payment is due by 2.00 p.m. on Monday. Friday is only T+1. Tuesday (T+3) is the end of the selling-out window, not the payment deadline. Wednesday (T+4) has no role in the Schedule 2 timetable.
