Sentosa Bhd has just paid a dividend of RM0.40. Dividends are expected to grow at 5% a year forever and investors require 10%. What is the share's value under the constant-growth model?
Gordon growth: P0 = D1 ÷ (r − g), where D1 = D0 × (1 + g) = 0.40 × 1.05 = 0.42. P0 = 0.42 ÷ (0.10 − 0.05) = RM8.40. RM8.00 uses the dividend just paid (D0) instead of next year's. RM4.20 divides D1 by r alone, ignoring growth. RM4.00 divides the dividend just paid by the required return alone.
